Ben Wa Balls vs. Smart Balls

December 9, 2008

I recently shared an email conversation with a lovely woman regarding ‘Smartballs’ which are metal balls encased in outer latex balls so they are much larger than Ben Wa Balls. The Ben Wa type balls are inside the outer layer. She was wondering if they would help her improve her orgasms as well as being curious about how they control the occasional urine leak. She relayed the following:

“The Smartballs were too big to be fully effective. While the “rumbling around” sensation was pleasingly erotic on a low level, as far as strengthening the muscles, well, once they were in properly they took as little effort to retain as a tampon — none. Getting them in turned out to be an issue, too. I suspect it’s because my retroflexed uterus has my cervix lower into the vagina some days of the month than would be standard, but there were days I simply couldn’t manage to squeeze both balls in there!

They’re connected by a thin line of rubber in the middle and though I could slip the first one in no problem, when I tried to get the second one in, they’d be folding up on themselves, sliding against one another. As the second one was pushed in, the first would be coming back out, zipping every which way but IN! It was pretty funny, but 10 times worse than my early struggles with a diaphragm, back when I was using one. (It only took a few days to learn to get the diaphragm inserted properly) But the Smartballs? Most days they’d slide in, but some days, there was no way that second one was going to squeeze in.

Long and the short? I tossed them a week ago, and will be heading for a pair of real Ben Wa balls, and will follow the directions on your site to use them effectively.”

When it comes to stress incontinence, improving the muscle tone in your pelvic floor is not only the most common solution, but also the easiest. I always recommend Ben Wa Balls and learning how to do proper Kegel exercises. The good thing about Ben Wa Balls is that they are small and more difficult to keep in. I personally believe that starting with Ben Wa balls until you learn how to do a proper Kegel program is the first step. Since most women are not informed properly or even half reasonably about exactly how, when and what to do to perform a proper Kegel workout, I developed a comprehensive and complete program (with a DVD/CD and Workbook!) called “Freedom from your Leaky Bladder” to do just that. Most women DO NOT need surgery, just some information, specific instructions, some motivation and then they can get their lives back! For more information, check out my other website at http://www.bladderfreedom.com.

As for orgasms, any improvement in muscle tone will improve your orgasmic sensation and may improve your general enjoyment of sexual intercourse. If you receive more pleasure through being tighter, then that may improve your chances of orgasm. As a bonus, when you are more snug, your partner will receive more pleasure as well – isn’t that an exciting idea? Essentially, your ability to orgasm starts with your mind so anything that you like more or better or that makes you feel better will help.

The key is finding the right atmosphere, position, and mental connection with your current partner that affords you the easiest path to orgasm. Experiment with different positions and locations. I’m a big fan of self stimulation during intercourse so you can still have the joy of an orgasm with you partner inside of you. No matter how it happens, it’s always a good thing :-)

Are pillows good for anything other than sleeping?

October 31, 2008

Q: Are pillows good for anything other than sleeping?

A: Yes! Pillows are great for a multitude of sexy things including:  propping yourself up (try under your hips during
missionary position for variety in angle) or staying comfy when on
your knees performing oral sex.

Pregnant ladies may find pelvic relief by tucking a
pillow between your knees or under one side of your abdomen. For doggy style love-making (which is great fun
during pregnancy) you gals can cushion your tummies with pillows so
there’s no strain on your back.

People with arthritis can benefit from pillows as well. Whether under their knees, necks, backs or ankles, pillows can offer great support.

Can you think of other
fun or useful ways to use a pillow? Send me some tips and I’ll post
them on the blog!

Power of the Black Mask

July 10, 2008

A black mask is a potent symbol of seduction.

Yes, you can use a tie or scarf, but they don’t hold the same power the mask does.

Leave one on your partner’s pillow so he can see it when he walks in. Very Sexy! Use the mask to release your inhibitions or those of your partner. When you hide your eyes you’ll find yourself acting in ways that you wouldn’t usually. Unleash your Inner Lioness further by putting the mask on your partner and see how differently you now act, things you may now say or do. Rejoice in shedding your inhibitions!

Don’t have a mask? One is included in our Deluxe Lioness Sexy Feather Game. Imagine all the fun and sexy things you’ll do with a feather, some erotic dice and that powerful black mask.

Keep me posted!

Sex Toy Poison?

July 10, 2008

Concerned about the chemical phthalates being found in the sex toy industry?

Many suggest the best way to avoid them is to buy only glass or silicone products.

The sex toy industry has really improved quality control even in the last 10 years.

Yes, some toys may contain small amounts of pthalates that can lead to health issues in some animals, but I’m pretty sure the animals weren’t using the products on their genitals – they were probably being injected with the stuff!

I believe in eating organic, not ingesting drugs if possible and my family thinks I’m a bit fanatical in what I eat, drink or put on my skin – so I’m pretty careful.

However, I don’t agree with the questionable tactics that say you shouldn’t use anything other than a (very costly!) silicone or glass dildo or vibrator.

These toys are about 3 or 4 times more expensive than plastic, jelly or latex options.

Clean your toys properly, toss them if they get cuts, scrapes, or dings in them and don’t expect them to last for 10 or 20 years before replacing them and you should be fine!

If you are concerned, put a condom on your toy, experiment with other brands or speak to an informed person to help you meet your sexual needs, peace of mind AND your budget!

Sex Toy Etiquette

July 10, 2008

Do you share *old* sex toys with *new* partners?

This is a great question and one with many answers. My first response is "How would you feel if he brought out a vibrator that he used with another lover?" Each relationship is different and it’s really up to you to decide how to proceed. Just be cautious.

It may also depend on the ‘toy’. Perhaps massage oil or lubricant if purchased for someone else is acceptable, but a vibrator or cock-ring may not go over so well.

Certainly, disinfecting your toys (with an anti-bacterial spray) is a good place to start. Also, pick a neutral and loving moment (remember-not in bed!) and ask him how he would feel about using a sexy item that you already own. It’s amazing what you find out when you ask!

If you don’t feel comfortable even bringing it up, listen to that. It may be worth investing in new toys that you select together!

Waterproof Sex Toys

July 10, 2008

So are waterproof toys really waterproof and why would you want one anyhow?

Basically they are considered water resistant and not exactly waterproof.

You can use a lot of toys in the bathtub as long as you don’t dip the section with the motor or batteries in the water.

Women usually just use the tips of vibrators for external stimulation so depending on how you hold up your vibrator, you can use lots of them in the bathtub.

If you want to feel more secure, this will take you to our Toys for Her page where you can check out the Elite, Blue Jelly and Mini Mite waterproof toys.

Vibrator Addiction

July 10, 2008

I’m asked regularly if you can get addicted to vibrators or if your body will get desensitized or numb to sensation from too much vibration.

In fact, yes you can. If you use a vibrator on a regular basis (which for you could be daily, 4 times per day or every 2 days), you may develop an immunity or need a lot more vibration to reach orgasm. You may find that it takes more stimulation than it did before. The beautiful thing is that if you simply stop for a few days or a week, all will come back the way it was! The body is amazing, isn’t it?

If you can only reach orgasm by vibration, and no other way, some of you are concerned. My thought is regardless of how you get there, if you can only get yourself to the point of orgasm standing on your head, holding a parrot and having someone blow on your feet, who cares? As long as you are receiving pleasure (and isn’t orgasm a pleasure pinnacle?), any old way you get there is perfect for you! It’s much better than no orgasm at all.

So if you need vibration, check out our Products for some sexy accessories to add to your collection!

Latex Allergies

July 10, 2008

I’ve been getting some questions lately about what people can do if they are sensitive to latex or have latex allergies.

One suggestion is to use polyurethane condoms on your vibrators and dildos. I know they are expensive but it is an option. Your best bet is to find a pharmacy that carries them as I can’t get good pricing on them.

Another suggestion is to stay away from rubber or even jelly toys. The manufacturing process is still not perfect in this industry and latex may still be present in seemingly latex free toys. If you choose plastic, metal or glass toys, you should be fine.

Silicone is an option for toys yet is very expensive. I don’t stock silicone toys due to the price, but will special order them. You may have to wait 3-4 weeks and there is a premium handling charge. Email me with inquiries.

Remember, our most popular vibrator, the Microtingler is latex free!:
